I provide counselling services at a reduced rate to a limited number of clients. I understand that financial difficulties can make it challenging to afford counselling, so if you are in need of low-cost options, please don't hesitate to contact me or Healthlink BC at 811, where a member will assist you in finding a no-cost to low-cost option.

How do I make a payment

Payment can be made by Visa, Mastercard or Amex through the practice management software, Jane App, or by e-transfer. All payments for counselling services are due within 24 hours subsequent to the session. A full receipt will be emailed to you at the time of payment.

Do your services cover extended benefits

Many extended benefits plans cover the services of a Certified Clinical Counsellor (CCC) and/or Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) — please check your plan to make sure.

You will be sent an invoice with my certification number to submit for reimbursement, as CCCs and RCCs are not permitted to direct bill extended benefits providers.

I am a registered provider and provide direct billing to the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) for Indigenous clients who qualify for mental health coverage.

This policy is in place because I have dedicated and reserved your session time exclusively for you. It ensures that we can make the most of our scheduled time together. Late cancellations may be subject to a charge at your regular rate.

I am committed to providing inclusive and culturally sensitive support to individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and identities for adults and youth aged 18 and above. This dedication extends to serving clients from all walks of life, ensuring that our services are accessible and tailored to meet their unique needs. I am committed to providing compassionate and culturally responsive care to all individuals who choose to work with me.

What about confidentiality

All communication and counselling sessions are held in strict confidence as required by law. Confidentiality is of utmost importance in our therapeutic relationship. However, it's important to acknowledge that there are certain limits to confidentiality. These limits include situations where there is a risk of harm to a vulnerable person, such as a child, when a court subpoenas clinical notes, or when there is imminent harm to the client or others.

In the event that a breach of confidentiality becomes necessary, I believe in open communication and fostering a collaborative approach. If such a situation arises, I will discuss it with you and work together to address it in the best possible way. Your well-being and safety are paramount, and we will navigate any challenges while upholding ethical standards and ensuring your informed involvement throughout the process.

What to expect beginning counselling

Reaching out for support may bring about big feelings such as nervousness or even excitement. This is completely normal. No matter what you may be feeling, it is my goal is to create a safe environment and a strong therapeutic relationship to connect and explore your experiences within.

The first session is an intake session and is the most structured. It is important to spend time in the first session to discuss the expectations of therapy and give you the chance to ask questions. This includes ensuring you are freely consenting to receiving services, clarifying what is confidential and what is not, discussing the pros and cons of therapy, and identifying our roles and responsibilities.

Following this, we will start to focus on the presenting concern, asking questions that will help us understand your presenting challenges and symptoms as well as your strengths and resources. Once we have collaboratively identified the direction you would like to go, we can begin our work together.
